Process in the Vomit

I figured I'd show the process I went through to create the animation, with some brief explanations.

It all started with a drawing...

After showing this image in experimental studio, I got a lot of suggestions where to take it. A friend of mine suggested trying an animation, because she knew of my pre-existing interest. So I began making still frames.

I did this all digitally on my wacom tablet. Originally the girl wasn't really supposed to be me, but as an artists you learn that you draw yourself a lot because it's something you know well.

The animation began to form...

When I discussed this idea with my professor again he told me to push the literal iconic symbols of the needles and pills from the original image, so something more abstracted. It took me a while to decide what to do with it, but I soon decided that using specific colors would work as a perfect disguise. The color selections I made are directly derived from the symbols I had originally planned on using, i.e. needles (bright neon orange for the needle caps) a pale baby blue (dope bags and many pills share this color), etc. Then I layered the chemical compound for oxycodine ontop, making a geometric pattern through repetition. Here's what I got.

This was my final submission, however I plan on continuing to work with this in the future to better my animating skills.

*This project had it's own offspring check out my Self Portrait.
